New Castle LWV Holds Forum In Chappaqua On Palliative Care

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. -- The New Castle League of Women Voters is beginning a conversation about palliative care and health-care decisions on March 5 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Chappaqua Library Theater.

The event will focus on palliative care, hospice, advance care planning, including health-care proxies, living wills, powers of attorney and other issues to consider when taking charge of present and future healthcare decisions.

Speakers for the event will be the Rev. Martha Jacobs, moderator senior minister at the First Congregational Church of Chappaqua, a former hospital chaplain and author of "A Clergy Guide to End of Life Issues;" Dr. Hal Federman, and Dorothy Cafran RN, BSN, CHPN, at Ken Hamilton Caregivers Center at Northern Westchester Hospital; Mary Spengler, executive director, and Nancy Caputi, RN, BA Hospice & Palliative Care of Westchester; Susan Ferlauto and Roberta S. Goodman, attorneys, Elder Justice Unit at Pace Women’s Justice Center.

Refreshments will be served and there will be time for questions.

Chappaqua Library Theater is at 195 S. Greeley Ave., Chappaqua.
