$6,000 in Macs Stolen From White Plains Apple Shop

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - A series of thefts this weekend left the Westchester Mall's Apple store with six fewer computers and nearly $6,000 less in inventory.

A manager told officers two men walked into the store Friday evening, grabbed four MacBook Air laptops off the display, ripped off the computers' security tags, and walked out.

Police, who reviewed video surveillance of the Apple store, said the men walked into the store at 8:08 p.m. and left with the $999.99 MacBooks within 20 seconds.

Officers returned to the store Sunday where a second manager said two young men had stolen another two MacBook Air laptops.

Other news from the police blotter includes:

- A Bronx man was arrested Saturday after police said he repeatedly punctuated his cries of "look at those cops" with expletives. After Jan Pena, 22, swore at officers at around 4 a.m. Saturday, police patrolling Mamaroneck Avenue asked him and his friends to leave the area. According to police reports, Pena replied with another four letter word and said "I don't have to go anywhere."

Pena allegedly pushed an officer, who requested he leave a second time. Officers then tried to arrest Pena, but said he swung fists at police. Additional officers were needed to complete the arrest.

Once Pena was in the car, Leonard Rutigan, 22,  a Sleepy Hollow resident, paced before the police and announced he "was not leaving without his brother," according to police reports. Police said Rutigan demanded they release Pena and swore after officers declined. Rutigan was then arrested.

Back at police headquarters, officers said they discovered a plastic bag containing marijuana in Pena's front, left pants pocket and his outstanding warrant from the Sleepy Hollow Police Department. He was charged with one count of disorderly conduct, one count of resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, and one count of unlawful possession of marijuana.

Rutigan was charged with one count of disorderly conduct.

- A Danbury, Conn. woman who parked her white Ford in the 25 Waller Ave. lot around 2:30 a.m. Sunday returned a little more than an hour later to a smashed window. She told police someone had stolen her friend's $500 Coach purse and a $600 iPhone inside of it off of the car's back seat.
