A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Frank Suppa at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Cecilia's Church, 1184 Newfield Ave., Stamford. Suppa died Jan. 22 at Brighton Gardens in Stamford. He was 81.
Suppa was born Aug. 20, 1929. He was a baker at Sal's Pastry Shop. During the Korean War he served in the U.S. Army, and he also served in the Connecticut National Guard. He worked as a sales manager for several distributors.
He spent 15 years, from 1995 to 2010, as a crossing guard. Suppa was stationed at Turner and Pepper Ridge roads, where he acknowledged each passing car with a wave and a smile.
Suppa is survived by wife Grace Cerulli Suppa; sons Frank Suppa of Dumfries, Va., Anthony Suppa Sr. of Norwalk and Vincent Suppa of Seattle; three grandchildren; a brother; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford. A procession will leave the funeral home Saturday at 9:10 a.m. for St. Cecilia's Church. Burial at St. John's Cemetery, Darien, will follow the funeral Mass.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Suppa's name be made to a charity of one's choice.
