Skelos Out As Senate Majority Leader Amid Corruption Charges

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- State Senate Republicans held a two-hour closed-door meeting and reportedly replaced Dean Skelos with Sen. John Flanagan as Senate Majority leader, according to NY State of Politics.

Sources believe Skelos voluntarily stepped down as majority leader of the Senate, but it is not yet clear if he will resign from his elected position entirely, NY State of Politics reported. 

Skelos landed in hot water after bing charged with illegally approving a contract bid from a Scarsdale firm that employs his son.
