GARRISON, N.Y. -- Former New York governor and current Republican presidential candidate George Pataki has nominated his pick for a woman on the $10 bill: his mother, Peggy.

A woman’s face will appear on the bill in 2020 to mark the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution which afforded women the right to vote, it was announced earlier this week.

Pataki, who was previously mayor of Peekskill and now lives in Garrison, joked that he spoke to the Treasury Department to select his 99-year-old mother for the bill on his Instagram page.

"Peggy Pataki for 2020," Pataki said.

Pataki also posted a photo on Friday of him kissing his wife Libby, who serves as director of Putnam County Tourism, with the hashtag National Kissing Day.

"For forty-three years, I have had the pleasure of being married to this woman, Pataki said.

On Tuesday, Pataki said his son-in-law, David Levy, had made miraculous improvements over the past few days after suffering a stroke .

"David has a long and difficult path to recovery ahead," Pataki said of the man married to his daughter, Allison. "As I return to the campaign trail, we just want to thank everyone for your incredible support and ask that you please keep David and Allie in your prayers."

At a speech in Philadelphia at the Northeast Republican Leadership Conference on Thursday, Pataki said Washington is killing the American Dream.

"What do they make in Washington D.C.? They make credits and exemptions and laws and regulations," Pataki said, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
