Peekskill GOP Announce Candidates For City Election

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- The Peekskill Republican City Committee unanimously endorsed three candidates for Peekskill City Council Wednesday.

Peekskill Republicans, who had already endorsed Frank Catalina as their candidate for Peekskill Mayor to challenge incumbent Mary Foster in this fall’s election, endorsed Chris Hanzlik as well as Joe Torres and Vincent A. Vesce, son of former Peekskill Mayor Vincent C. Vesce.

“I am thrilled to have such a great group of people running with me,” said Catalina. “Each brings a different type of experience, professional background and skill set to the ticket. My running mates and I will offer the citizens of Peekskill candidates who will be short on typical political rhetoric and long on providing solutions to the many problems that have been caused by the policies and decisions implemented by the current administration over the past five years.”

Chris Hanzlik is a Civil Engineer who works for TRC Engineers, Inc. in Hawthorne, NY. He is a graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School and earned a Bachelor of Engineering Degree from Manhattan College. He is a former Peekskill Councilman and served on Peekskill’s Planning Commission for 14 years being named its chairman in 2008. He is currently the President of the Peekskill Lapolla Little League and a member of the Board of Directors of the Lincoln Society. Chris and his wife Esther have two children, Jonathan and Rebecca.

Joe Torres graduated from Walter Panas High School and shortly thereafter started his own business, Reliable Sewer and Drain Service, which hestill oversees. He is a working member of the Peekskill Yacht Club and a member of the Lincoln Society.  He also is a member of the Peekskill Office of Emergency Management (OEM) and donates his professional services to a number of not-for-profit entities in the Peekskill area. He and his wife Terri have four children, Courtney, Tammy, Joey and Chris, the latter of which has joined his father in the family business.

Vincent A. Vesce is a graduate of Blair Academy in Blairstown, NJ. He holds a Bachelors Degree from Lynn University in Boca Raton, FL and worked for 15 years at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey evebntually becomingManager Airport Access where he oversaw a revenue budget of about $300 Million. He is currently the President of “V Squared Strategies”, a business development consulting firm. “Vesce is a former member of the Peekskill Zoning Board and remains as a fourth generation member of the Christopher Columbus Society where he was a Past President. He and his wife Jolene have three children, Gianna, Vinnie and Sophia.
