PEEKSKILL, N.Y. Peekskill resident Robert Jeter, who was reported missing earlier Wednesday evening, was found suffering from non-life-threatening injuries at his home, Yorktown police said.
Jeter is being treated for his injuries at a local hospital and is expected to be released. Yorktown police said they believe the attack was not random and are investigating the incident with help from the Peekskill Police Department.
Jeter was at the Jefferson Valley Mall between 2 and 3 p.m. when he called his sister and said he was being followed by two people in the parking lot, police said. The sister told police that Jeter had been receiving threatening text messages for about a week leading up to his disappearance.
When police arrived at the scene, Jeter's car was found unoccupied and parked in a truck loading dock. The location and condition of the vehicle have led police to believe that foul play was involved.
