Yorktown Man Charged With Criminal Possession Of A Controlled Substance

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown police have charged a 27-year-old resident of Yorktown Heights with criminal possession of a controlled substance following an incident on Court Street, authorities said.

The charge came about after officers were dispatched to investigate a resident’s allegations of a suspicious vehicle Tuesday about midnight, according to officials.

The vehicle and its driver, identified as William J. Gerbe III, were located by the officers; following an investigation, it was alleged that Gerbe was operating the vehicle while his New York state driver’s license was suspended and that he was in possession of a controlled substance and a quantity of marijuana, police report.

The suspect was arrested and transported to the Yorktown Police Department for processing, according to officials.

He has been charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, both misdemeanors, along with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, police report.

The defendant was issued an appearance ticket and released on his own recognizance, according to officials.

He is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday, Aug. 23, police report.
