PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Two area women face felony charges after being accused of selling heroin in the city, according to city police.

Marie Curry, 39, of Cortlandt Manor, was arrested on June 13 at 10:15 p.m. and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony, in the 600 block of Main Street by Police Detective Joe McGann.

Curry was charged following a several month joint investigation with Westchester County Police in which on several occasions Curry sold heroin to an undercover officer, police said. Curry was held for arraignment in Peekskill City Court without bail.

Also charged was Lena Buckner, 55, of Peekskill, who was arrested on June 18 at 7:35 p.m. Buckner was also charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a class B felony, in the 300 block of Washington Street by McGann and Detective Anthony Malfitano.

Buckner was charged following a joint investigation with the state police narcotics unit during which Buckner sold heroin to an undercover police officer, according to police. Buckner was held for arraignment in City Court.

City police have seen an increase in heroin sales in recent months. A city man was arrested in May for selling heroin, and in March two men were found unconscious in a car in the Beach Shopping Center after injecting themselves with the drug.
