Two Charged With Felony Drunken Driving In Separate Dutchess Stops

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office arrested two men on felony DWI charges in separate stops on Monday.

Jaison D. Cook, 38, of Pleasant Valley was arrested during the first stop about 4:45 p.m. Sheriff's deputies said Cook was observed by a motorist to be traveling erratically, at which time the motorist contacted the Sheriff’s Office. Cook was stopped on Burnett Boulevard in the Town of Poughkeepsie. 

Cook was found to have a DWI conviction on March 20, 2010.

Cook was found in possession of a dagger and concentrated marijuana, and was additionally charged in connection with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Cook was released on an appearance ticket and is due to appear before the Town of Poughkeepsie Court on June 6.

At about 7:45 p.m. a sheriff's deputy on patrol observed a vehicle traveling erratically and failing to keep right on Old Hopewell Rd in the Town of East Fishkill. 

Benjamin M. Murello, 43, of Wappinger was charged with felony DWI since he also had a prior conviction within 10 years, sheriff's deputies said.

During processing, it was discovered that Murello’s license was suspended. He was additionally charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a felony, failing to keep right and refusing to submit to a breath test. 

Murello was released after posting $750 bail, and is due to appear before the Town of East Fishkill Court at a later date.
