LIVINGSTON, N.Y. -- A Peekskill man was charged on several different counts after being pulled over in a traffic stop upstate, according to New York State Police.
Miguel Plaza, 29, of Peekskill was arrested on Aug. 6 and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and false personation, all misdemeanors, and several vehicle and traffic violations following the traffic stop, police said.
Troopers from the state police barracks in Livingston were advised by Columbia County 911 operators of an erratic vehicle reported in the town at approximately 3:50 p.m. and they located the reported vehicle on Interstate 82 still being operated in an erratic manner. Troopers stopped the car and interviewed the driver, who provided a false name. Further investigation revealed the driver, later identified as Plaza, was intoxicated, police said. Plaza was transported to the barracks and submitted to a breath test resulting in a .26 percent blood alcohol content. Plaza was arraigned in the town Justice Court and sent to the Columbia County Jail on $10,000 cash bail or a $20,000 bond.
