Six Charged With Labor Day Weekend DWIs In Peekskill

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. --The Peekskill Police Department participated in a Labor Day weekend Stop DWI initiative, and thanks to a grant from the Westchester County Stop DWI program extra officers on patrol led to six people being arrested and charged with DWI.

More than 35 summonses were issued for other offenses including speeding, failure to wear a seat belt, and unlicensed operation.

The following people were charged with driving while intoxicated:

  • Jamie Marcatona, 27, of Peekskill was arrested on Aug. 31 at 8:10 p.m. on the 700 block of South Street by Police Officer Dan Labodin and charged with driving while intoxicated and refusing to submit to a chemical test, both misdemeanors. Marcatona was seen operating a vehicle with a faulty headlight and subsequently stopped, police said. It was later determined he was operating the vehicle while intoxicated and Marcatona refused to submit to a breath test, which carries an automatic one-year revocation of his driver’s license. Marcatona was held for arraignment in City Court.
  • Ramon Perez, 35, of Peekskill was arrested on Sept. 1 at 2:50 a.m. on Hudson Avenue near South Street and charge with driving while intoxicated and refusing to submit to a chemical test, both misdemeanors. Perez was stopped for having a loud exhaust and was found to be operating the vehicle while intoxicated, according to police. He was held for arraignment in City Court.
  • Kathryne Walsh, 48, of Cortlandt Manor was arrested on Sept. 1 at 8:10 p.m. on the 600 block of Highland Avenue by Police Officer Dan Labodin and charged with driving while intoxicated and refusing to submit to a chemical test, both misdemeanors. Walsh was pulled over after failing to stop at a stop sign and found to be operating while intoxicated, police said. Walsh failed several field sobriety tests and refused to take chemical test, police said. She was released on $250 bail and is due in City Court on Sept. 24.
  • Xavier Castro, 30, of Peekskill was arrested on Sept. 2 at 12:45 a.m. on the 500 block of Highland Avenue by Police Oficer Dan Labodinand char ged with driving while intoxicated and refusing to submit to a chemical test, both misdemeanors. Castro was stopped after failing to dim his high beams to oncoming traffic and subsequently found to be operating under the influence of alcohol, according to police. Castro failed several field sobriety tests and was taken into custody and refused to take a chemical test, police said. He was held for arraignment in City Court without bail.
  • Edwin Sanchez, 59, of Cortlandt Manor was arrested on Sept. 1 at 10 p.m. on the 600 block of Washington Street by Police Officer Ed Lemp and charged with driving while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration of over .08 percent, both misdemeanors. Sanchez was stopped after nearly striking Lemp’s vehicle head on while travelling on Washington Street, police said. Sanchez was taken into custody and found to have a blood alcohol content of .12 percent. He was released on his own recognizance and is due to appear in City Court on Sept. 13.
  • Miguel Arpi, 29, of Brewster was arrested on Sept. 3 at 1:36 a.m. on the 100 block of Welcher Avenue by Police Officer Dan Labodin and charged with driving while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration of over .08 percent, both misdemeanors. Arpi was stopped after turning right on red without making a stop and found to be in under the influence of alcohol after failing several field sobriety tests, police said. He was taken into custody and was later found to have a blood alcohol content of .08 percent, according to police. He was released on his own recognizance and is due to appear in City Court on Sept. 24.
