Queens Woman Facing Misdemeanor Theft Charges In Cortlandt

MOHEGAN LAKE, N.Y. - New York State Police say a Queens woman is facing misdemeanor charges, after she was accused of attempting to leave Marshall's department store with more than $300 in merchandise.

At about 4:30 p.m., Aug. 17, Lilliana Varela, 29, of Long Island City, N.Y., was at the Cortlandt Town Center location of Marshall's, when state police say loss-prevention officials at Marshall's saw her conceal several men's and women's shirts and women's shoes inside tote bags.

Varela left the store without paying for them, and was stopped by the loss prevention- officers. She is accused of taking $324.86 worth of merchandise.

She was charged with misdemeanor petit larceny, and is due in Cortlandt Justice Court on Friday.
