18-Year-Old Charged With Stealing From Sears, Yorktown Police Say

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. – An 18-year-old Putnam Valley woman, whose name is being withheld due to eligibility for youthful offender status, was charged with petit larceny after she attempted to walk out of a Sears store without paying for jewelry valued at $762.93 on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Police say a call was received from Sears security reporting a shoplifter in custody. Police were dispatched to the scene and following an investigation, they arrested the woman for the charges, according to police.

Following processing, the woman was issued an appearance ticket directing her to answer the charge in the Yorktown Court on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 6 p.m. She was then released on $100 bail.
