Putnam Valley Man, 33, Caught With Pills, Pot During Speeding Stop

PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. --  A Putnam man is behind bars after being nabbed with numerous drugs during a traffic stop, said the Putnam County Sheriff's Department.

Keith Matthews, 33, of Putnam Valley was arrested on Tuesday after being stopped around 3:20 p.m. on the Taconic State Parkway in Putnam Valley for speeding, said Capt. William McNamara.

During the course of the stop, the deputies found that Matthews was in possession of quantities of oxycodone, tamazepam, suboxone and marijuana, all controlled substances for which he did not have a valid prescription, McNamara said.

Matthews was charged with multiple counts of felony criminal possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and was cited for speeding.

He was arraigned before Carmel Town Justice Thomas Jacobellis and remanded him to the county jail in lieu of $20,000.00 cash bail or $40,000.00 bail bond.
