Lewis was caught after a Corrections K-9 officer alerted on her possessions which were then searched by troopers from Troop F who found a prescription bottle containing six different types of controlled substances. Officials also found a marijuana cigarette and a marijuana grinder in her vehicle also on prison grounds.

She was charged with promoting prison contraband, six counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana, and possession of a controlled substance outside its original device.
