Police Rule Out Connection Between Newburgh, Beacon Shootings

BEACON, N.Y. -- Police have ruled out a connection between the Aug. 22 shooting death of a man in Beacon and another shooting that occurred the next day in nearby Newburgh, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.

A 25-year-old man was shot and killed Aug. 22 on South Davies Terrace in Beacon. Police are still looking for his killer.

The still-unidentified 25-year-old man died shortly after he was shot in the chest near South Davies Terrace. He did not live in Beacon. The murder was the first shooting death Beacon has seen since 2007, said the Poughkeepsie Journal.

The next day, a 28-year-old Beacon man was shot in Newburgh but survived his injuries. According to police, Beacon and Newburgh investigators have determined that the two shootings were not connected, added the Poughkeepsie Journal.

The department is asking anyone with information to contact Beacon police at 845-831-4111. All calls will remain confidential.
