Police: Poughkeepsie Man In Speeding Stop Had Forged Checks, Credit Cards

A Dutchess County man pulled over for speeding on I-87 was caught with forged payroll checks, forged credit cards and approximately 15 grams marijuana

At about 7 p.m. on Wednesday, the driver of the vehicle stopped in upstate Bethlehem, Khalil T. Sharp, 19, of Poughkeepsie, and his passenger later identified as, DeAndre D. Green, 18, of Kingston, were found to be in possession of forged payroll checks, forged credit cards and approximately 15 grams marijuana, state police said.

Sharp was placed in custody. Green fled the scene, was tracked by a state police K-9 unit, and actively resisted arrest prior to being taken into custody. Both men were transported and processed at SP Albany.

Sharp was subsequently charged with: possession of a forged instrument in the second degree, a Class D felony; unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation; and speeding, a vehicle and traffic violation.

He was arraigned before the Town of Bethlehem Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or bond.

Green was charged with: possession of a forged instrument in the second degree, a Class D felony; resisting arrest; a Class A misdemeanor; obstruction of governmental administration in the second degree; a Class A misdemeanor; criminal trespass in the third degree; enclosed property, a Class B misdemeanor; criminal impersonation in the second degree; a Class A misdemeanor; and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

He was arraigned before the Town of Bethlehem Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or bond.

Both men are scheduled to reappear on Feb. 21.
