PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – A Mount Kisco man was charged with the theft of jewelry from a Putnam County home after he was arrested in Peekskill, according to city police.
Ralph Belotti, 49, was arrested April 18 at 4:20 p.m. and charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a class E felony, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, on Welcher Avenue by Police Detective Ralph D'Aliso and Police Officers Mathew Basso and Daniel Labodin, police said.
Officers saw Belotti acting in a suspicious manner while sitting in his vehicle and then observed him attempting to conceal a quantity of women's jewelry, police said. It was later discovered Belotti was in possession of crack cocaine, police said.
On the following day, a joint investigation between the Peekskill Police Department and the Putnam County Sheriff Department determined that the jewelry in Belotti's possession was from a burglary in Putnam County on April 18, police said. Belotti was held for arraignment.
