Police Apprehend Fugitive In Wappinger

DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- A 34-year-old Poughkeepsie man was apprehended on Wednesday by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Wappinger barracks as a fugitive from justice.

Troopers stopped Herbert L. Bell Jr.,for speeding on New Hackensack Road in Wappinger late in the morning. 

An investigation revealed that Bell was wanted for a violation of probation bench warrant stemming from a conviction of theft by deception, a felony, in Washington County, Pa.

Bell was arraigned at the Dutchess County Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail. His next appearance was scheduled for Monday.
