The standoff began around 1 p.m. when the New York State Police were attempting to serve felony warrants on Jaquon Dancy, 21, when he barricaded himself inside his home at 16 Gray Street, according to Trooper Melissa McMorris, spokeswoman for the New York State Police.
Working in conjunction with ESU and the City of Poughkeepsie Police Neighborhood Recovery Unit, troopers from the state Narcotics Enforcement Team worked for more than four hours to encourage Dancy to surrender, said Capt. Rich Wilson of ESU.
After he refused to come out, troopers requested a search warrant and once obtained, ESU members raided the home, knocking down the front door, Wilson said.
Officers found Dancy hiding in small crawl space of the home, he added.
Dancy was wanted for criminal sale and possession of heroin, police said.
"The operation was executed safely and no one was injured, including Dancy," Wilson said.
Dancy was arraigned in the Dutchess County Court and is being held at the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.
