Arlington firefighters arrived within a minute of receiving the call around 1:45 p.m., for the restaurant at 661 Dutchess Turnpike, said Arlington Fire Chief Tory Gallante.

Firefighters made forced entry into the building and encountered heavy smoke conditions inside. A further investigation revealed an active fire in the roof area, Gallante said.

The fire was extinguished and under control within 30 minutes from the time of dispatch, he added.

The business was closed and unoccupied at the time of the fire. The building sustained smoke, fire, and water damage and firefighters were able to contain the fire to the roof area, Gallante said.

Assisting at the scene of the two-alarm fire were the LaGrange Fire District, Mobile Life Support Services, Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response, Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department, Town of Poughkeepsie Building Department, and Central Hudson Gas & Electric.

The fire was investigated by the Arlington Fire District Fire Investigation Division. The cause of the fire was determined to be electrical and involving an exterior neon sign.
