PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Cortlandt barracks charged 29-year-old Elisha J. Sutton, of Peekskill, with buying goods with a stolen credit card.

In September troopers were dispatched to a Cortlandt residence to investigate the use of a stolen debit card. A police investigation found that Sutton took an acquaintances debit card while she stayed at his house overnight, police said. She used the victim’s credit card to make a purchase at a Cortlandt area gas station, according to police.

Further investigation revealed that Sutton was locked up at the Westchester County Jail for unrelated charges. While incarcerated, Sutton was issued an appearance ticket ordering her to appear before Cortlandt Town Court on Sept. 28.

On Oct. 19, Sutton was processed on the charge of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. She is scheduled to return to the Cortlandt Town Court at a later date.
