Police arrested Anthony Vecchio, 50, of Peekskill at 12:40 p.m. Thursday and charged him with fourth-degree grand larceny, a class E felony, and scheme to defraud, a misdemeanor, following a six-week joint investigation with the Westchester County District Attorney’s office.
Vecchio is accused of making off with money paid to him for home refinancing and foreclosures and not performing the promised paperwork, according to police. He is being held for arraignment.
Police are asking possible victims to come forward prior to Vecchio’s court proceedings. Victims should call (914) 737-8000 and ask for Detective Gallaher.
Other arrests reported by Peekskill police the past week:
- Kyisha Mackey, 33, of Ossining, was arrested at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday and charged with falsely reporting an incident, a misdemeanor. Mackey called police on several occasions to report someone was in danger of being shot in front of a city residence. It was later determined by police Mackey had been in a dispute with the residents of the home and was making the allegations up, police said. Mackey was released on her own recognizance and is due in city court at a later date.
- Angel Hernandez, 45, of Peekskill, was arrested Friday and charged with driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction in the past 10 years, a class E felony. Fernandez was seen allegedly violating traffic laws on Smith Street and was pulled over by police. Hernandez was found to have a blood alcohol concentration of more than 0.08 percent, police said. He was taken into custody and held for arraignment.
