Abdo Murshed, 51, of Peekskill, was charged with selling a tobacco product to a minor, and Abdo Aljahim, 21, and Waleed Ali, 28, both of Peekskill, were arrested and charged with the prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage to a minor. All the offenses are misdemeanors, according to police.
Murshed is an employee of the Valentine Deli at 943 Second St. Aljahim is an employee of the South Street Deli at 900 South St., and Ali works at Stop and Go Deli at 730 South St.
Officers used an undercover 16-year-old to check to see if local businesses were selling tobacco and alcoholic merchandise to underage customers. Attempts were made at eight random businesses, five of which refused to sell these items to the teen, police said.
The three men were released on their own recognizance and are due in city court at a later date. Notifications were forwarded to New York State for further review of state tobacco and liquor licenses.
