Isiah McNeil was charged with robbery in the first degree, a Class B felony.

Officer Steve Zappolo was on patrol at 3:45 a.m. when he observed a suspicious male on a bicycle in the Shell Station parking lot at 722 N. Division St. When Zappolo went to investigate, the man fled south on North Division Street, police said.

The clerk saw Zappolo and started waving his hands and frantically pointing, and the officer chased the suspect, police said.

Zappolo caught the man on Harrison Avenue and when taken into custody the suspect had a BB gun in his waistband, police said.

"Thanks to his instinct and actions, Officer Zappolo was able to interrupt a crime in progress and apprehend a violent criminal," Peekskill Police Chief Eric Johansen said.

McNeil is being held pending his arraignment.
