Peekskill Man Stopped For Loud Exhaust Charged With DWI

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- New York State Police from the Cortlandt barracks have arrested a 50-year-old resident of Peekskill on a pair of DWI-related charges, according to police.

The arrest came about when troopers stopped a motorist, identified as Darrow F. Crosby, for operating a vehicle with a loud exhaust in Peekskill on Sunday, police report.

A subsequent investigation revealed that he was intoxicated; a DMV license check also indicated that Crosby’s driving privileges had been suspended due to a previous DWI-related arrest, according to officials.

Crosby provided a breath sample that revealed a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent, police report.

The suspect was charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a class E felony, and driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, according to officials.

He was arraigned in Yorktown Town Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail or $25,000 bond, police report.
