PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Jamar Smythe, a Peekskill man who was previously convicted of possessing cocaine and ecstasy, was released on Tuesday after spending the past four years in jail, according to a report by News 12 Westchester.
Smythe was convicted during a routine traffic stop in Yonkers in 2011 and was released because investigators said Yonkers police officers lied about his case, the report said.
Smythe is among 20 defendants who have had charges against them dropped, the report said.
