Memorial Set For Peekskill Officer Julian Hermosillo

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – The City of Peekskill has announced there will be a memorial service On Thursday for a police officer killed in an automobile accident in Orange County on Sunday.

A wake will be held for Officer Julian Hermosillo will be held on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home.

A wake will be held for Officer Julian Hermosillo  from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.  at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, 414 Washington St; in Peekskill. 

Hermosillo, 29, was killed in a two-car crash in Goshen about 8:30 p.m., Sunday. Hermosillo was off-duty when he was involved in the crash on Route 17 near exit 122a.

Hermosillo had been a Peekskill officer for 2 ½ years. Before that he was with the Town of Wallkill Police Department.

Hermosillo served in the Army from 2001 – 05 and was a combat veteran of the war in Afghanistan.

He is survived by his mother, Aida Guillen and his sister, Erika Hermosillo, both of El Cajon, Calif.

Hermosillo's body will be flown to his family in California on Friday where a funeral service will be held and his burial will take place at a U.S. National Military Cemetery in San Diego, Calif.
