Man Apprehended After Altercation At Dutchess Stop & Shop

DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. – A Florida man was arrested and charged with multiple offenses by state police, including second-degree assault, after an altercation at the Wappinger Stop & Shop on Saturday.

Timothy A. Kane, 56, of Haines City, Fla., was also charged with third-degree criminal trespass and resisting arrest after refusing to leave the store.

When Kane was asked to leave multiple times by troopers responding to a report of a disorderly subject, he became physically combative. A trooper suffered a knee injury after a brief struggle.

Kane was arraigned at Wappingers Falls Justice Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail and $20,000 bond.

He is scheduled to appear in Wappinger Justice Court on Dec. 1.
