LAGRANGEVILLE, N.Y. -- LaGrange Volunteer Firefighters have contained a four-alarm fire that started early Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to a large brush fire near Routes 55 and 82 in Lagrangeville shortly after noon on Sunday, a spokesman for the Dutchess County Sheriff's Department confirmed.

About 2 p.m., a fourth alarm blasted for additional help with multiple volunteer fire departments at the scene. Fire dispatchers were requesting a recall of Battalions 2 and 6 firefighters.

Earlier, all off-duty paid members were ordered to respond and help fight the brush fire.

New York State forest rangers will be monitoring the area this week, officials said.
