Jefferson Valley Woman Interferes With Investigation, Police Say

A 25-year-old Jefferson Valley resident was arrested last week after police say she gave them a fake name while interfering with a police investigation in the DeCicco's Supermarket parking lot.

Shamecca Thornton was charged with false personation, a Class B misdemeanor and obstructing governmental administration in the second degree, a Class A misdemeanor.

Police had received a report of suspicious people at the DeCicco's parking lot. Thornton was allegedly interfering with a police investigation to determine whether an order of protection had been violated, police said.  Thornton was arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing police said.

Thornton was released on $200 bail and is due back in court on Nov. 2.
