PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – Four people were arrested after a car was damaged while it was parked on Highland Avenue.
Dkqwan Johnson, 23, of Peekskill and Araiya Taylor, 19, Alexis Brens-Medina, 18, Brianna Willaims, 19, all of New York City, were arrested on Feb. 24 at 12:50 a.m. and charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a class E felony. Police say they observed a male and three females punching and kicking a parked vehicle on the 500 block of Highland Avenue.
The four individuals attempted to flee in another vehicle when they were stopped by Officer Michael Agovino. While speaking to the four suspects, police said the 30-year-old Peekskill motorist, who was in the car when it was damaged, approached Agovino and told him one of the suspects, Williams, lunged at him with a knife-type sword. The weapon described by the motorist was recovered at the scene. The vehicle sustained three broken windows and a slashed tire.
Williams was additionally charged with second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. All four were held for arraignment.
Other arrests reported by Peekskill Police:
- Javon Gaillard, 20, of Peekskill was arrested on Feb. 21 at 1:30 a.m. and charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor, on the 200 block of Depew Street by Police Officers Matt Basso and Fabian Gonzalez. Officers responded to a report of suspicious activity involving a blue Mercedes-Benz, and during the investigation, police said a 9 mm handgun was discovered leading to the arrest of Gaillard, who was held for arraignment.
- Johnny Almengol, 40, of Fishkill was arrested on Feb. 23 at 7:55 p.m. and charged with resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, and second-degree obstructing governmental administration, both misdemeanors, and disorderly conduct, a violation, on the1500 block Main Street by Police Officer Michael Lawrence. While taking a complaint report, Lawrence was approached by Almengol in regards to an unrelated incident. Lawrence reported Almengol appeared to be in an intoxicated state and would not allow him to complete his original report. Lawrence spoke to Almengol and advised him he would investigate his issue on completion of his taking the original complaint report. Almengol became irate and was accused of physically hindering Lawrence from completing his report and of attempting to strike Lawrence upon his face, police said. While Lawrence attempted to place Almengol into custody, he was accused of continued to resist and attempting to elbow Lawrence, according to police. Almengol was eventually subdued and transported to the Peekskill Police Station where he was processed and held. No injuries were reported.
- Cerdan Lovell, 44, of Peekskill, was arrested on Feb. 23 at 4:45 p.m. and charged with resisting arrest and two counts of petit larceny, fifth-degree possession of stolen property, and second-degree obstructing governmental administration, all misdemeanors, on the 1200 block Main Street by Police Officers Michael Lawrence and Nicholas Franco. Officers responded to Walgreens parking lot. Lovell was stopped and when asked for identification, he ran from Franco. Lovell jumped over several fences in an attempt to elude police, police said. He continued to fight police as Lawrence and Franco attempted to take him into custody. Lovell was transported to Peekskill Police Headquarters where he was charged and held for arraignment. No injuries were reported.
