Just before 11 a.m., Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to Emily Lane for a reported oven fire.
Rolling out with the Fire Chief, two pumper tankers and heavy rescue, Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Boyle was first on the scene and assumed Incident Command.
After a quick sizeup, Boyle confirmed an oven fire that was quickly extinguished but had filled the Emily Lane house with smoke. Entry crews brought in large volume exhaust fans and made short work of clearing the smoke.
Carmel police also were on the scene and Mahopac Falls fire police kept the scene safe for the working crews. Fire crews were out less than an hour later and placed back in service, according to Jack Casey of the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department.
