The eight volunteer firefighters were treated and released from the hospital due to heat related injures.

The 20-unit home, next to Peekskill High School, was destroyed, leaving 103 people displaced. Mayor Frank Catalina said they are being tended to by the American Red Cross and he intends to set up a relief fund for the victims.

According to LoHud, firefighters were back on the scene Tuesday to douse hotspots.

Catalina said it was a difficult fire to fight due to the weather conditions. More than 60 firefighters were at the scene.

"God bless our volunteer firemen and the neighboring departments who were on the scene for hours away from their families assisting in mutual aid," Catalina said. "We are a lucky city."

Officials have not announced what caused the fire.
