Driver Struck By Kerry Kennedy Charged With Leaving Accident Scene

ARMONK, N.Y. – The truck driver who was struck early last Friday morning by Kerry Kennedy was charged by New York State Police Wednesday with leaving the scene of an accident, a misdemeanor.

Rocco Scuiletti, 47 of Poughkeepsie, was issued the ticket after police said he failed to report the accident that occurred on Route 684 to authorities.  Police said an investigation of the accident, with help from witnesses on the highway, showed that Scuiletti knowingly was struck by Kennedy’s Lexus RS 350 and did not report it.

Kennedy was later arrested on Route 22 in North Castle on charges of Driving While Under the Influence of Drugs.  Police said Kennedy told them at the scene said that it was possible she could have accidently taken the prescription sleep-aid Ambien before getting behind the wheel.  Kennedy said in a press conference following her court appearance in Armonk Tuesday that a seizure caused her erratic driving.

Scuiletti is scheduled to appear in North Castle Town Court on Aug. 7, a week before Kennedy is scheduled to reappear on her DUI charge on August 14.
