Driver, 57, Seriously Injured In Route 9 Crash

The driver of a 2013 Corvette was seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash that closed Route 9 for more than four hours Thursday.

The crash occurred around 11:30 a.m. Thursday on Route 9 just north of Spring Road after the 57-year-old male driver lost control of the vehicle and drove over the concrete median of South Road, hitting a 2014 Jeep Cherokee, driven by a 54-year-old Hyde Park resident, said Town of Poughkeepsie Police Capt. Kevin Faber.

A third vehicle, a 2011 Toyota Camry, driven by a 66-year-old Poughkeepsie resident who was struck by a tire that broke off the Corvette, Faber added.

The two Corvette occupants sustained injuries, the driver's injuries were serious in nature, Faber said. The driver the Jeep sustained non-life threatening injuries and the driver of the Camry was not injured, he added.

All of the injured were taken to area hospitals by Mobil Life Ambulance. The Town of Poughkeepsie Police was assisted by Arlington Fire District. 

The police department is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact the department's Traffic Enforcement Unit at 845-485-3680.
