The unidentified 14-year-old was arrested following an investigation into a theft that was seen in news videos and on Facebook on Monday, the Buchanan Police Department said.

After seeing the video on Facebook and News 12 of the juvenile stealing a bicycle in Montrose, off-duty Buchanan Police Sgt. Michael Guida notified  Buchanan Police Officer Thomas Cobelli of the incident since officer Cobelli had just taken a report of a stolen bike in Buchanan.  He had also previously assisted State Police in a previous bicycle larceny.

"Through police investigation, (Buchanan Police Officer Thomas) Cobelli was able to locate the bike stolen from Montrose as well as the bike stolen from Buchanan," according to a release from the department. "Officer Cobelli was also able to identify the juvenile on the video as a 14 year old from Peekskill."

Buchanan Police will turn over information in the case to New York State Police. The investigation in the larceny of the Buchanan bicycle is ongoing and charges are expected to be announced shortly, according to police.
