Letter: Peekskill's Irish Fest A Big Success

The Daily Voice accepts signed, original letters to the editor. Letters may be emailed to acusano@dailyvoice.com.

Editor's note: The letter below was submitted by Irish dancer Chris Naish along with a video that he filmed of last weekend's Hudson Valley Irish Festival at Riverfront Green Park.

Letter to the Editor:

I felt compelled to write to someone about my first visit this past weekend up to Peekskill. I have been a professional dancer for 10 years with shows like "Riverdance" and "Lord of the Dance," and this was my first time being invited to the Peekskill Irish Festival.

I had not even heard of it before, but now I will never forget it. Not only were the views stunning, but the festival had a top lineup of entertainment and a great atmosphere of friendly and fun people. Out of the hundreds of Irish festivals I've danced at before, this would be the one I was most looking forward to again. No one has paid me to say this or anything like that – I was just not expecting such a great festival.

The organizer, Dan Dennehy, did a fantastic job to make sure everything ran smoothly, and the energy was just something else! I would put money on this being one of the top Irish festivals in years to come, this being only the fourth annual festival in Peekskill. You heard it here first. You can see for yourself what an amazing time it was in this video.

I was not hired to make a video. I made it purely because I had such a great time. I think the whole of Peekskill will want to go next year. They may have to extend the festival to ships as well!

All the best,
Chris Naish

That would be great. Remember the tall ships in the harbor that came from Holland it was an awesome site to see. I would have loved to see them stay longer. It took you back to that magical period of time.
