Independence Party Chair Responds To GOP Letter

LEWISBORO, N.Y. – The Lewisboro Daily Voice accepts signed, original letters to the editor. Email your letters to lewisboro@dailyvoice.com.

To the Editor,

I am writing in response to Mr. Bob Sullivan’s recent letter to The Lewisboro Daily Voice.  I note that he is vice chair of the Lewisboro Republican Town Committee (LRTC).

The LRTC vice chair accuses members of the Westchester County Independence Party Executive Committee and several Lewisboro candidates of “crashing” a reception hosted by local Republicans to enlist supporters in their Independence Party write-in campaign.

The vice chair is misinformed and incorrectly portrays the facts.

First and foremost, this gentleman was not present at the event, admitting that what he writes about “was described to me.”

Second, the Lewisboro residents present at the event were guests who had received invitations mailed by the Lewisboro Republican Committee and therefore had every right to be there.

Third, the Executive Committee members of the Independence Party who graciously appeared at the event, did so to support Lewisboro candidates endorsed by the Independence Party.

Finally,  it is clear that Mr. Sullivan’s letter is nothing more than sour grapes. The Lewisboro Republican Town Committee failed to obtain the endorsement of their candidates from the Independence Party and now seeks to confuse Lewisboro voters and to obfuscate the real issues before Lewisboro residents.

The Independence Party, which counts more than 400 registered voters in Lewisboro, endorses only those candidates believed to be well qualified.  Lisa Wickersham is the Independence Party candidate for Town Board. The Independence Party supports her outspoken stance on term limits, fiscal restraint, and improved recycling environmental efforts.
