PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – Yvonne Young of Peekskill and formerly of Yonkers died Oct. 28. She was 72.
Young was born Oct. 10, 1940, on the Caribbean island of St. Vincent. She worked as a registered nurse at St. Vincent de Paul Nursing Home in the Bronx, N.Y., for more than 20 years before retiring.
A resident of Peekskill for more than 20 years, Young was a communicant of Assumption Church in Peekskill, where she had served as lector for many years.
Young is survived by a daughter, Yvette Powell, of Toronto, Canada; a brother, Erollta Nner; a sister, Lorna McFatter; two grandchildren and a great-grandson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m., Nov. 7, at Assumption Church. Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Cortlandt Manor. The family will receive friends before the Mass, from 9 to 11 a.m. at E.O. Curry Funeral Home in Peekskill.
