Ronald DeRonda, 69, Peekskill Construction Worker

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – Ronald DeRonda, a longtime Peekskill resident, died July 3 in Newburgh, N.Y. He was 69. 

He was born May 22, 1943, in Peekskill to Karl F. and Susan Kasakawitz DeRonda. DeRonda was a Peekskill resident for most of his life and worked in construction, mainly at Con Edison in Montrose with Local 235 of Elmsford. 

He was a 34-year member of Peekskill Fire Patrol 134, where he served as president three times and was a member of Hook and Ladder Co. 45. He was also part of the Friday Night Diamond Club.  

DeRonda is survived by his wife, Geraldine Brown DeRonda; three sons, Douglas Hitchcock, Karl F. (Colleen) DeRonda and Arthur D. (Tanya) DeRonda; a daughter, Lisa Carder; two brothers, Al and Michael DeRonda; three sisters, Delores Mowbray, Monica DeRonda and Dorothy Moran; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

He was predeceased by a brother, Karl DeRonda; and two sisters, Kathy Danko and Linda Heady. 

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at E.O. Curry Funeral Home in Peekskill. Funeral services will start at 7 p.m. on Friday. 

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
