Robert G. Blaich, 84, Former Peekskill Resident

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – Robert G. Blaich, a lifelong resident of Peekskill, recently of Florida, died Saturday, March 26. He was 84.

He was born Oct. 19, 1931, in Peekskill, to William and Alice (Hunt) Blaich. 

He served in the U.S. Army from 1950-52. On April 1, 1956, at Assumption Church in Peekskill, he married Wanda Jarlowski.

He worked for more than 30 years for the Peekskill Housing Authority. He was a member of the American Legion Post of Peekskill, the Centennial Hose Fire Co., the local Elks Lodge 744 and the Knights of Columbus Council 462. He was a leader for Boy Scout Troop 26 of Assumption.

He is survived by his daughters and daughter in-law, Vicki Blaich, Patricia Appaneal and Joyce Baio and Jan Steel; and six grandchildren.

His wife died in 2003 and he also was predeceased by his son, Edward Blaich.

Visitation is Sunday, April 24,  from 3-7 p.m. at the E.O. Curry Funeral Home, 313 N. James St., Peekskill. A Memorial Mass will be offered Monday, April 25,  at 10 a.m. at the Assumption Church, Peekskill, followed by interment in the Assumption Cemetery, Cortlandt Manor.
