Patrick Francis Gallagher, Sr., 72, Lifelong Peekskill Resident

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. - Patrick Francis Gallagher, Sr., a lifelong resident of Peekskill, died Sunday, June 2. He was 72.

Gallagher was born on Aug. 7, 1940, in Beacon, son of Neil I. and Mary Elizabeth (McGrath) Gallagher. He worked in construction in his early years, and was employed at NYS Power Authority and Northern Westchester BOCES before retiring. He was a communicant of the Assumption Church in Peekskill, where he also served in the past as a CCD instructor. He was a 49-year member of Columbian Hose Company No. 1, of the Peekskill Fire Department, the Knights of Columbus, The Tarrytown VFW Marching Band, Westchester County Volunteer Firemen's Association, Hudson Valley Volunteer Firemen's Association, and the Firemen's Association of the State of New York.

Gallagher is survived by his wife, Maria; son, Patrick (Angela) Gallagher of Springhill, Fla.; daughter, Amelia (Lia) Gallagher of Peekskill; seven grandchildren; four grandsons; a great-granddaughter; siblings, Kathleen (Krawiec), James, John and Thomas Gallagher; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings, Neil, Joseph, Charles Gallagher, Mary Ellen (Davis), William, Edward Gallagher, Anne (Baxter), Margaret (Phannes), Genevieve (Mayen-Hearney), Mary (Duers), Joan, Leo, Daniel Gallagher, and Eileen (Chiarella-Hunter).

Calling hours are Wednesday, June 5 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Dorsey-Carlone Funeral Home, 1100 Cortlandt St., Peekskill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 6 at Assumption Church, Peekskill, followed by interment at Assumption Cemetery, Cortlandt Manor.
