PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – Michelle Garnett of Peekskill died July 21 in the Bronx, N.Y. She was 55.
She was born Oct. 12, 1956, to Lillie Mae Brooks Porter. Garnett worked as a child-care specialist for the Julia Dyckman Andrus Memorial in Yonkers for the past several years.
A former Greenburgh resident, Garnett moved to Peekskill in 1989. She was a member of the Yorktown Vineyard Church. She enjoyed reading, traveling and listening to music, but especially loved spending time with her family.
Garnett is survived by a daughter, Aisha Patterson; two sons, Rashid Patterson and Ya’sin Patterson; four brothers, Derrick Taylor, Ahmed Taylor, Darrell Taylor and Craig Taylor; a sister, Tyeca Taylor; and five grandchildren.
Visitation and services will be held at Yorktown Vineyard Church on Saturday at a time to be announced. E.O. Curry Funeral Home in Peekskill is handling arrangements.
