Maria Vita Corrado, Of Peekskill, Longtime Employee Of Purchase College

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. — Maria Vita Corrado of Peekskill died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, Feb. 3, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

She is survived by her father, Domenick Vita of Port Chester; her brothers, Joseph Vita and his wife, Carla Kleinwachter Vita, of Princeton, Minn., Anthony Vita of Port Chester, and Domenick Vita and his wife, Patricia Halpin, of Tarrytown; and six nephews and nieces all loved and adored, Lauren and Lindsey Vita of Rye, Angelo and Renzo Vita of Princeton, Minn., Jack and Katelyn Vita of Tarrytown.

She also leaves behind her loyal and beloved cat, Sebastian.

Maria was predeceased by her mother, Teresa (Ribuffo) Vita Sampaio of Rye Brook, and her brother, John Vita of Rye Brook.

She was born and raised in Port Chester and graduated from Port Chester High School in 1987, working for Purchase College for over 20 years.

Maria was also a proud member of the United University Professions Union for SUNY employees.

The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to all at the UUP for donating sick time for Maria's well-being. She leaves behind a great many of her friends and co-workers, whom she admired greatly.

The family also would like to acknowledge the special bond in friendship and sisterhood Maria shared with those with whom she spent her final days, forever grateful for the ability to lift Maria up in her many times of need.

Visitation will be at 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, at Craft Memorial Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9, at Corpus Christi Church, 136 S. Regent St., Port Chester. Interment will follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Lustgarten Foundation, 1111 Stewart Ave., Bethpage, NY 11714.
