PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Mae D. Tompkins, 98, a former Peekskill resident, died Sunday, Aug. 2, in Ladylake, Fla.
She was born July 19, 1917, in South Amboy, N.J., to Charles and Margaret Suessenbach Grover.
She graduated from of Peekskill High School in 1935.
She is survived by her son, John C. Travis of Hampstead, N,C. and daughter Kathy Travis of Ocala, Fla., a stepson Robert Tompkins (Jean) of Hopewell Junction, 11 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her first husband, John P. Travis, her second husband, Raymond Tompkins, and a daughter, Joan Travis Helveston.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Ladylake. Interment will follow at a later date in Assumption Cemetery in Peekskill.
