John Joseph Cerrone Sr., Former Peekskill Resident, 95

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- John Joseph Cerrone Sr., of Burnt Hills, N.Y., formerly of Peekskill, passed away at home on Saturday, Jan. 24. He was 95.

Prior to retiring, Cerrone worked in construction throughout Westchester. He was born on Jan. 12, 1920, in Ossining to John J. and Maria Pizzarusso Cerrone. He served in the U.S. Army during the World War II era.

On Sept. 7, 1957, he married Angela M. Franchi at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer.  

Cerrone loved the game of golf, working around many country clubs in his earlier years and playing until he could no more. He was also an avid bowler. He was also a life member of Centennial Hose Company in Peekskill.

Cerrone is survived by his wife, Angela Cerrone of Burnt Hills; and three children; John Jr. and Beth Cerrone of Ballston Lake, N.Y., Barbara and John Park of Carthage, N.Y. and Richard Cerrone and John Giorno of Norwalk, Conn., and three grandchildren, Leah and Kristian Cerrone and Gabriella Park; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and 11 siblings.

Visitation is Wednesday, Jan. 28, from 5-9 p.m. at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, Peekskill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday,  Jan. 29, at 10 a.m. at the Assumption Church. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the East Glenville Fire Department, Saratoga Road, Scotia. N.Y.
