PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Peekskill native Jane M. (Ryan) Snyder, 90, died peacefully on Feb. 21 at Ashland Place Health and Rehabilitation Center, Mobile, Ala.
She was born Feb. 6, 1925 in Peekskill. She was married to Stephen Snyder, also of Peekskill, on Nov. 27, 1947. He preceded her in death on Sept. 26, 1984.
Jane and Steve lived in New Jersey for more than 20 years raising their family before retiring to North Ft. Myers, Fla., in 1973. They enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards, and being active in the American Legion, the VFW, and the Elks.
After her husband's death, Jane moved to Mobile, Ala., to be with close family friends, Kenneth and Lucille Gucofski.
Jane is survived by her daughters and their spouses: Sharon and Michael Hennessey of Chenango Forks, N.Y. and Stephanie and Frank Russo of Plainville, Conn. She also leaves six loving grandchildren: Rukyah, Zachary and Brett Hennessey and Katie, Amy and Vinny Russo.
She is also survived by numerous Snyder and Sloat family nieces and nephews and their families in the Peekskill area.
A private memorial service is planned for later this year.
