PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – Peekskill native Herb Trimpe, best known as the first comic book artist to draw Wolverine for publication, died on Monday, according to comicbook.com. He was 76.
Trimpe’s name was synonymous with the Incredible Hulk, Axel Alonso, editor-in-chief at Marvel Comics, said in a comicbook.com article.
Trimpe worked on other famous projects such as "Star Wars" and "G.I. Joe," also earning The Bob Clampett Humanitarian Award for his chaplaincy after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York City, according to comicbook.com.
